Work out how much turf you may need and get a useful starting estimate before you order. Add one lawn area or several, choose Kikuyu or Sir Walter Buffalo, and let the calculator include a 5% waste allowance by default.
You can edit the indicative turf rate, adjust the waste allowance and choose whether to show optional laying. When the estimate looks right, add your postcode and send it to Demarco Sydney Turf for a confirmed quote.
Indicative only. Final pricing depends on current availability, delivery location, access and site conditions.
How to measure your lawn
Start with the simple shapes
For a rectangular or square area, measure the length and width in metres. Enter both figures and the calculator will work out the square metres.
For example, the formula is:
length × width = area in square metres
You do not need to do the calculation yourself when using the tool—just enter the measurements.
Break an irregular lawn into sections
Most lawns are not one perfect rectangle. A path may divide the yard, the side lawn may be narrow, or a garden bed may interrupt the space. Break the lawn into smaller rectangles and add each as a separate area. The calculator will total them for you.
If a section is curved or angled, divide it into smaller measurable sections and estimate the curved portion conservatively. Use the waste allowance for fitting and trimming, not to replace the area measurement. If you are unsure about a difficult shape, send your best measurements with the quote request and explain where the uncertainty is.
Why the calculator starts with 5% waste
Turf usually needs to be cut around edges, paths, garden beds and other fixed features. The default 5% allowance gives a practical buffer for those cuts and joins. It is editable because a very simple lawn and a complicated layout may not need the same allowance.
The final quantity remains your choice. Demarco can review the measurements supplied, but the calculator cannot inspect the property or guarantee that a measured quantity will suit every layout.
Choose the turf for your estimate
Demarco supplies two turf choices across Sydney: Kikuyu and Sir Walter Buffalo.
Kikuyu
Choose Kikuyu in the calculator if that is the turf you plan to order. If you are still comparing options, include a note with your quote request about the lawn’s sun, use and the result you want.
Sir Walter Buffalo
Choose Sir Walter Buffalo to calculate the same lawn areas using its indicative rate. If you are unsure whether it is the better fit, ask Demarco before confirming your order.
Optional turf laying
You can use the calculator for turf supply only, or switch on an indicative laying amount to help plan the project. Laying is optional; you do not need to add it when buying turf from Demarco.
The online amount covers optional laying only and is not a fixed installation package. Access, the size and shape of the lawn, and the condition of the site can affect what is involved. Any site work outside laying must be clarified before Demarco prepares the confirmed quote.

From estimate to confirmed quote
1. Send the result
Your request carries across the turf variety, named areas, measurements, waste allowance, indicative rate, postcode and laying preference. Add any delivery or access notes that may help.
2. Demarco checks the practical details
Current turf availability and pricing are checked, along with the delivery location and access. If you requested laying, the site information is reviewed so the quoted scope is clear.
3. Review the confirmed quote
The confirmed quote replaces the online estimate. You can review the turf quantity, delivery and any optional laying before deciding whether to proceed.
FAQs
Can I calculate more than one lawn area?
Yes. Add the front lawn, backyard, side area or any other section separately. The calculator combines them into one measured total before applying your waste allowance.
Why does the calculator add 5% waste?
The default allowance helps cover cuts, joins and irregular edges. You can edit it if your lawn has a particularly simple or complicated layout.
Are the turf prices shown final?
No. The editable rates and totals are indicative and designed to help you plan. Demarco will confirm current turf pricing and availability, delivery for your location and any optional laying before an order proceeds.
Does the estimate include delivery?
Delivery will be shown as “to be confirmed” until Demarco reviews your postcode, order and access details.
Can I include turf laying in the estimate?
Yes. You can choose to display an indicative laying amount. Laying is optional and separately quoted after the lawn area, access and site conditions are considered.
Does the laying estimate include excavation or soil preparation?
No. The online estimate covers optional laying only. Any site work outside laying must be clarified before Demarco prepares the confirmed quote.
Is submitting the estimate the same as placing an order?
No. It sends Demarco the information needed to prepare a confirmed quote. Nothing proceeds as an order until the details have been confirmed with you.
